Caegan Jackson was born in Louisiana and has always been acutely aware of the environment around her. The states’ unique biodiversity and vastly rich ecosystem would prove to be one of her best teachers. Growing tomatoes in her grandmothers’ garden as a child and being surrounded by various plants in her childhood home nurtured a reverential relationship for life around her. Nature has always been around and very present in many aspects of her life. She pursued her Bachelor’s in Biology to understand more about how the life around her came to be. It wasn’t quite the experience she thought it would be, but it introduced new opportunities to her. The next avenue she pursued was her Master’s in Public Health which she will complete in the Fall of 2025. Focusing on environmental health she still looks for meaningful ways to engage with the community around her connecting them with the resources they have and expanding on self-sufficiency in areas where there are deficits.
