Bio:

Francesca Edralin is a first-generation Filipino American environmentalist whose dual upbringing and heritage shaped her passion for climate justice since a young age. Seeing the Philippines’ natural landscapes in need of protection growing up, as well as the unjust impacts of climate change on her family’s local communities, has inspired Francesca to work in the global climate justice movement.

Francesca is an Associate Specialist at World Wildlife Fund (WWF), where she works with companies on consumer engagement campaigns that drive environmental education, fundraising, and behavior change. As an alumnus of WWF’s Building Relationships, Inclusivity, Diversity, Growth, and Excellence (BRIDGE) program, Francesca also leads initiatives that promote youth empowerment within the organization. Francesca obtained her B.A. in International Affairs (International Environmental Studies) from the George Washington University, with minors in Sustainability and Journalism. She also has an extensive background in inclusive environmental storytelling, representing her university at COP26 as a student reporter and reporting environmental justice stories for outlets such as Mongabay and Planet Forward. Francesca also previously served as the Director of Global Outreach for youth-led nonprofit ThinkOcean, where she coordinated global climate justice campaigns across 20+ countries. At the State Department, Francesca conducted and advised on research projects focused on environmental defenders and human rights conflicts in the Philippines and Indonesia.

This fall, Francesca will pursuing a MSc Environment and Development at the London School of Economics, where she hopes to further study the linkages between climate justice and inclusive sustainable development through a Global South-centered lens.
