Leslee Gutiérrez Carrillo (she/they) is an environmental justice and climate mobility advocate working on ensuring forced climate displacement is given the attention and urgency it requires. Currently completing a Master’s in Environmental Law and Public Policy at UMA in the State of México, while splitting time in Oakland, California, and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Proudly, the firstborn child of immigrant parents in a large Mexican family. Leslee draws from their own experience with migration and climate injustice to fuel the work they do. They have shown up in the fight for liberation as a community organizer, strategist, caregiver, facilitator, leader, and follower. The vision they subscribe to of the future is an ambitious one that takes the collective power of the masses and requires deep investment from all sectors. Leslee believes that our freedom is deeply tied to one another and, to the fullest extent possible, should be applied seriously. They have spent the last decade building towards a future they want to live in, alongside many comrades, winning campaigns, holding elected officials accountable, utilizing the power within our communities to fight for change at a local and national level – all while centering frontline experiences and leadership.
