Sami Maldonado is dedicated to promoting equity, sustainability, and justice in the food system and agriculture. With a master’s degree in Environmental Justice from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems from the University of Minnesota, Sami focuses on the intersection of food and people. At the University of Michigan, she was a Transformative Food Systems Fellow and the course coordinator for a community-academic partnership course titled “Food Literacy for All.” A highlight of her graduate experience was serving as a 2024 Yale Environmental Fellow, supporting a ClimateWorks Foundation fund for climate justice. Sami is also a mentor on the 2025 National Wildlife Federation Education & Engagement Youth Advisory Council. In her free time, she enjoys visiting farmers’ markets, biking, eating ice cream, and spending time with animals.
